Ultimate travel companion

Magic Mirror is the brainchild of Liesel Corp, a costume designer and hair stylist who grew up on the hallowed grounds of Glastonbury Festival. Attending the festival with her parents at just 6 months old in 1981, festival life is part of her DNA.

As a single mother, I’ve learned how to stand in my own power. And no matter what anyone says, if you look good, you feel good. I don’t go anywhere without my Magic Mirror, it’s got me through life in a million and one ways.

Holidays, festivals, interviews, weddings, every professional styling job I’ve ever done, even simply being in the window so I can pluck my eyebrows in the sunlight. I could go on and on about why this product is my ultimate getting ready companion.”

The influence of Glastonbury Festival

In 2005 saw the iconic Kate Moss photographed in the mud and everything changed; it was no longer acceptable to cut a hole in a bin bag and use it as a poncho. Festival fashion was born and everyone was on board with the culture shift.

Over the next few years festival fashion didn’t just shift gear, it became an art form. Glitter makeup, sequins and costumes got bigger, brighter and ever more popular. There was only one issue… Glass mirrors were forbidden at every single festival.

Glass mirrors don’t travel well

In 2007 Liesel set up a smoothie company with her friend, they toured the UK festival circuit that summer and every mirror they took in the van either smashed or was confiscated.

She recognised the need for a non-glass travel mirror she could take anywhere, but couldn’t find any full-length non-glass mirrors she could fold up and take to festivals. A seed of an idea was born…

Getting ready anywhere

In 2009 Liesel was working as a costume designer, travelling from Bristol to London, New York and beyond. Not having a mirror on location was becoming an issue

“I could never show anyone what they looked like, it was so frustrating because it affected the actors’ confidence, I had to find a solution.”

For a few years Liesel experimented with different materials and prototypes and in 2014 she settled on a design and launched Magic Mirror.

Standing the test of time

It’s now been a decade since launching and a lot has changed. QVC was a whirlwind that almost brought an end to the product. A global pandemic that stopped all festivals and travel, and with huge global cost increases of raw materials it seemed Magic Mirror could not survive. However, like the product itself, Liesel is resilient and against all odds, Magic Mirror is now better than ever.

Using only the very best mirrored acrylic from Plaskolite USA Magic Mirror gives you the best reflection possible from a non-glass travel mirror. Every mirror is handmade in the UK with almost zero waste. The quality of the product will exceed your expectations and if you look after it, it will last you a lifetime.
